Chateau Maucaillou Vintage 1986 Judgement Of Paris WinesChteau Maucaillou is situated in the Moulis en Medoc appellation, just north of Margaux, in the Mdoc region of northern Bordeaux. Maucaillou's Moulis vineyard is claimed to be the oldest in the Mdoc, with records of title and ownership dating back to the 15th and 16th Centuries. The property's commercial history dates back to 1871, when the cellars were constructed by the Petit Laroche ngociant family. The wine estate expanded after its sale in 1929

but added after some quick thinking by the owner at the time

A bottle opened recently was magnificent and lived up to the reputation of this great vintage

but good for the next few years

but Latour has a reputation of performing well in the lesser vintages

As with many winery's it was closed during prohibition and sold before reopening after 22 years

however some wine lovers prefer to choose their own

although not among the best from this case
